Kish; Death of Aria Moradi During the January 8 Protests in Kish

Aria Moradi, a 25-year-old Kurdish man from Saqqez and a resident of Kish, lost his life after being directly shot by suppressive forces of the Islamic Republic during the nationwide protests on January 8 in the city of Kish.

According to Kolbarnews, on Thursday, January 8, 2026, Aria Moradi was directly shot by suppressive forces during nationwide protests in Kish, Hormozgan Province, and was killed.

These protests, which were held with widespread public participation, were met with severe repression by security forces.

The body of this deceased citizen was handed over to his family after the payment of 700 million tomans to security institutions.
This action indicates pressure and threats against families for the release of the bodies of those killed, similar to practices previously reported in other cities in Iran, including Kermanshah and Tehran.

As of the time of preparing this report, it is not clear whether Aria Moradi’s family was forced to sign a written pledge or comply with other restrictions in order to receive the body.
This news once again highlights violations of citizens’ rights and security pressure against the families of those killed in nationwide protests.
