Melika Kavandi, a Kurdish citizen from Bijar and a former detainee of the Jinā revolutionary movement, was arrested by the security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the city of Karaj and transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison.
According to Kolbarnews, on the evening of Sunday, February 8, 2026, Melika Kavandi was arrested in Karaj by security forces based on a judicial warrant and delegation issued by the Bijar Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office and was subsequently transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison. Since her arrest, security institutions have not provided any clear explanation regarding the reasons for her arrest or the progress of her case.
According to received information, Melika Kavandi had previously been arrested due to activities related to the Jinā revolutionary movement and had spent about one month in Sanandaj Prison. Her re-arrest took place while her husband, Mohammad Nosrati, another detainee of the Jinā revolutionary movement, had been re-arrested on Thursday, January 8, 2026, and has been in detention since that date.
It should be noted that this Kurdish citizen was arrested while she was mourning the recent death of her father and was in a poor psychological condition.
During her detention, this Kurdish citizen has been deprived of the right to access a lawyer, telephone contact, and family visits, and this situation has increased serious concern among her family regarding her health and psychological condition.
