A vehicle rollover involving a Sukhtbari car in Iranshahr has left two Baloch Sukhtbars seriously injured.
According to Kolbarnews, citing Balochistan sources, on the morning of Thursday, October 25, 2024, a Saipa Nissan Sukhtbari vehicle overturned 40 kilometers from Iranshahr on the Iranshahr-Khash road, injuring the vehicle’s two occupants.
The injured Sukhtbars have been identified as “Hefzollah Shahbakhsh,” aged 27, and “Mahmoud Shahbakhsh,” aged 25, both residents of Galugah, a district in Zahedan.
Local sources reported that around 6:30 a.m. yesterday, the Saipa Nissan overturned near Iranshahr, injuring the two occupants, who were then transferred to Khatam al-Anbia Hospital in Iranshahr for treatment.
Sukhtbari is considered an unconventional and hazardous job that many Baluch people in Baluchistan are forced into due to the lack of suitable and stable employment. Accidents, vehicle rollovers, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that Sukhtbars face. According to reports from Baluch activists, in the first six months of 2024, at least 133 Baluch Sukhtbars have died from shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires, with another 80 injured in these incidents, including nine children.
