Ilam: Construction worker dies due to lack of workplace safety

A construction worker in Ilam lost his life after falling from scaffolding because of unsafe working conditions.

According to Kolbarnews, on October 23, 2025, a construction worker identified as Kamal Karimi, from the village of Zhenin, a district of Servabad in Marivan County, fell from scaffolding while working on a building in Ilam and died as a result of the accident.

The report states that the lack of safety measures in the workplace was one of the main causes of the incident. Kamal Karimi was married and had a family.

It is worth noting that in 2024, at least 2,042 workers in Iran lost their lives due to work-related accidents, and at least 16,113 workers were injured in workplace incidents. Iran ranks 102nd in the world in terms of workplace safety compliance a very low position globally.
