A worker employed at the Takht coal mine in Golestan Province lost his life following a workplace accident.

According to Kolbarnews, on Saturday, December 13, 2025, a worker named Hamidreza Qezel-Soufloo, a resident of the village of Darouk in Minoodasht County, died following an accident while working at the Takht coal mine, one of the mines operated under the Eastern Alborz Coal Company.
Based on reports, Mr. Qezel-Soufloo, who worked in the extraction unit of the mine, suffered a severe head injury after being struck by a loader during work due to the failure to observe safety precautions. He died at the scene as a result of the severity of his injuries.
This report comes amid numerous previously recorded cases of worker fatalities in privately operated mines belonging to the Eastern Alborz Coal Company due to the lack of compliance with safety requirements. Despite the continued occurrence of such incidents in recent years, evidence indicates that the relevant authorities have failed to take effective measures to ensure safety and protect the basic rights of mine workers.
According to annual reports by the Statistics, Publications, and Documentation Center of the Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRAI), at least 2,042 workers lost their lives in workplace accidents in 2024, and 16,113 cases of work-related physical injuries to workers were recorded.
The majority of workers in Iran operate under conditions lacking job security and adequate insurance coverage, while shortages of labor inspectors and weak safety infrastructure have posed serious challenges to the registration, investigation, and prevention of occupational accidents.
