Esfarayen; Death of Fatemeh Soltani During Nationwide Protests by Direct Fire from Suppressive Forces

Fatemeh Soltani, a 32-year-old Kurdish woman from Esfarayen in North Khorasan Province and the mother of two young children, was killed during public protests in the city by direct gunfire from suppressive forces.


According to Kolbarnews, on Thursday, January 8, 2026, Fatemeh Soltani was directly targeted by gunfire from suppressive forces of the Islamic Republic during protest gatherings in Esfarayen and lost her life as a result of being struck by live ammunition.


This young woman, who was from the Kurdish Kurmanj community of Esfarayen, was the mother of two young children, a 6-year-old daughter and an 11-month-old son.

Hours before attending the protests, in the last story posted on her Instagram page, she wrote: “Tonight I am going for my children, because they deserve to have a good life,” and this sentence was recorded as her final message before her death.

The killing of Fatemeh Soltani occurred while the use of live weapons against protesting citizens continues, increasing concerns about intensified repression and violations of the right to life of protesters.
