Zahedan; Four Days Without Information on Parham Parvari, Political Prisoner Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison, Following His Sudden Transfer

Four days after the sudden transfer of Parham Parvari, a political prisoner and one of those arrested during the Jina revolutionary movement, from Iranshahr Prison to Zahedan Prison, there is still no information about his condition or exact place of detention.

According to Kolbarnews, on Friday, October 9, 2026, Parham Parvari, a 29-year-old citizen from Saqqez and political prisoner, was transferred from Iranshahr Prison to Zahedan Prison along with several other prisoners, without prior notification to his family.
Four days after this transfer, the lack of information about his condition and the interruption of his contact with his family have heightened concerns about the conditions in which he is being held.

Parham Parvari was arrested in Tehran on October 2, 2022, at the same time as the beginning of the Jina revolutionary movement.

Following judicial proceedings, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison on charges of “enmity against God” (moharebeh) and “acting against national security,” including 10 years of imprisonment in exile and five years of custodial imprisonment. This sentence was upheld by Branch Nine of the Supreme Court on December 19, 2023. However, following the acceptance of his third request for a retrial on March 4, 2025, the sentence was overturned.
Nevertheless, according to a statement by his mother in May 2025, the charge of “enmity against God” remains in the case, and proceedings concerning it have been referred to Branch Fifteen of the Revolutionary Court.

Parham Parvari has remained in detention for the past four years and eleven days without receiving even a single day of leave. Nearly three years and four months of his imprisonment have also been spent in exile in Sistan and Baluchestan Province.

Parham Parvari was arrested in Tehran on October 2, 2022, during the Jina revolutionary movement and was initially transferred to Fashafuyeh Prison. One week later, he was transferred to Ward 209 of Evin Prison.

On November 9, 2022, the Evin Prison Security Prosecutor’s Office formally informed him of the charge of “enmity against God.” During the proceedings, the court initially prevented him from retaining a lawyer of his own choosing, and his lawyer’s access to the case file was also restricted.

On December 25, 2022, after 46 days in detention, he was granted access to a lawyer of his own choosing. Maziar Tataei, the lawyer representing this political prisoner, informed his family after reviewing the case that the charge of “enmity against God” was still being pursued against his client.

On January 4, 2023, Parham Parvari informed his family during a telephone call that he had been transferred to Greater Tehran Prison. On April 9, 2023, he was returned to Evin Prison along with nearly 35 other prisoners. His court hearing was scheduled to take place on April 10 at Branch Twenty-Eight of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, but the hearing was not held for undisclosed reasons.

The first hearing concerning his charges was held on May 28, 2023, at Branch Twenty-Eight of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Amouzad and attended by his lawyer. Ultimately, on June 20 of the same year, Parham Parvari was sentenced on charges of “enmity against God” and “acting against national security” to 10 years of imprisonment in exile at Jask Prison and five years of custodial imprisonment.

On December 19, 2023, Branch Nine of the Supreme Court upheld the sentence issued against him. Less than a month later, on January 13, he was exiled from Evin Prison to Iranshahr Prison in Sistan and Baluchestan Province without his family being informed.

On September 12, 2024, the Supreme Court rejected the second request for a retrial submitted by this political prisoner. Approximately one month later, in a report published on October 10 of the same year, concerns were raised about the poor conditions in which he was being held at Iranshahr Prison and his placement among prisoners accused of drug-related crimes and murder.

At the time, Sarveh Soozani, Parham Parvari’s mother, reported the poor conditions in which her son was being held and expressed concern for his physical safety. According to her, during a confrontation with several prisoners, Parham was beaten and suffered a fracture around his eye, which required six stitches to treat. Additionally, after a tea flask was thrown at him, his body sustained severe burns. Referring to her son’s athletic and academic background, the mother of this political prisoner called for him to be held in a ward designated for political prisoners.

On October 31, 2024, Parham Parvari was transferred from Iranshahr Prison to the political prisoners’ ward at Zahedan Prison.

On March 4, 2025, Maziar Tataei announced that the Supreme Court had accepted his client’s third request for a retrial and overturned the previous sentence. He expressed hope that the parallel court, taking into account what he considered the absence of the legal elements required to establish the crime of enmity against God in the case, would issue an acquittal for his client.

However, on May 13, 2025, Sarveh Soozani announced that the acceptance of the retrial request was limited to one of the charges and that the charge of “enmity against God” remained in place. The case was also referred to Branch Fifteen of the Revolutionary Court for reconsideration.

Parham Parvari, 29, is a citizen from Saqqez who was residing in Tehran at the time of his arrest. He is a swimming coach and medalist in swimming competitions and holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Urmia University of Technology. He was arrested in Tehran during the Jina revolutionary movement and subsequently sentenced to 15 years in prison, including 10 years of imprisonment in exile and five years of custodial imprisonment.

Mozafar Parvari and Sarveh Soozani, his father and mother, are retired educators from Saqqez. Parham Parvari has been denied the right to leave throughout his detention, and repeated transfers between different prisons, along with his exile to Sistan and Baluchestan Province, have accounted for a substantial portion of his imprisonment.

Now, four days after his transfer back to Zahedan Prison and with information about his condition still unavailable, concerns about the conditions in which this political prisoner is being held continue.
