Urmia: Younes Nabizadeh Sentenced to 10 Years and One Day of Imprisonment

Younes Nabizadeh, a 37-year-old resident of Delu village in the Dizaj Dol district of #Urmia, has been sentenced by the Urmia Revolutionary Court to 10 years and one day of discretionary imprisonment on the charge of “membership in an opposition party.” The sentence was issued despite reports that he had been subjected to physical and psychological torture during his detention to extract forced confessions.

According to Kolbarnews, on Thursday, 6 June 2024, Younes Nabizadeh was arrested by security forces in Urmia without the presentation of a judicial warrant. Following his arrest, officers raided his home, searched the property, and confiscated several personal belongings.

According to published information, Branch One of the Urmia Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Najafzadeh, sentenced him to 10 years and one day of discretionary imprisonment on the charge of “membership in an opposition party.” His court hearing was conducted via video conference and reportedly lasted only about three minutes.

According to reports received, Younes Nabizadeh spent nearly two months in solitary confinement at the Ministry of Intelligence detention center in Urmia, where he was subjected to intense interrogations, physical and psychological torture, and sustained pressure. Informed sources state that security authorities coerced him into signing forced confessions and admitting to charges that he considered baseless.

It is also reported that during the “Jina” revolutionary uprising, Younes Nabizadeh had previously been repeatedly summoned, interrogated, threatened, and subjected to pressure by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence Organization.
