Urmia: Shahram Hatami Transferred to Prison to Serve Sentence

Shahram Hatami, a resident of Urmia, has been transferred to Urmia Central Prison to serve a sentence of six months and one day.

According to Kolbarnews, on Saturday, August 30, 2025, Shahram Hatami was taken to Urmia Central Prison to begin serving his sentence.

Mr. Hatami was arrested on September 29, 2024, at his residence by security forces. During the arrest, his home was searched, and his mobile phone and laptop were confiscated. After three days in detention, he was temporarily released on bail of 800 million tomans pending trial.

Later, on March 14, 2025, he was formally charged at Branch 6 of the Urmia Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office with Propaganda against the Islamic Republic, Promoting and advocating unveiled dress, Collaboration with anti-government media outlets, Insulting ethnic groups.

On May 19, 2025, the Urmia Revolutionary Court sentenced him to Two years in prison, Two years’ ban on social media activity and Confiscation of his mobile phone

However, on June 24, 2025, Branch 23 of the West Azerbaijan Province Court of Appeals reduced his prison sentence to six months and one day.

Finally, after receiving the execution order from Branch 9 of the Urmia Revolutionary Court’s Enforcement Division on August 26, 2025, Shahram Hatami was transferred on Saturday, August 30, 2025, to Urmia Central Prison to serve his sentence.
