Yaqub Karim-Pour, a citizen from Miandoab who was arrested during the 12-day Iran–Israel war, was sentenced to death by Branch One of the Urmia Revolutionary Court on the charge of “corruption on earth” through “spying for Israel.”

According to Kolbarnews, Yaqub Karim-Pour, a citizen adhering to the Yarsan faith and from Miandoab, was sentenced to death by Branch One of the Urmia Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Sajad Dousti, on the charge of “corruption on earth” through “spying for Israel.” Based on this report, this citizen was arrested on June 16, 2025, by security forces in Miandoab and transferred to the Urmia Intelligence Department detention center for interrogation.
Yaqub Karim-Pour was held in detention for two months and, in order to extract forced confessions regarding “cooperation with Israel and transmission of data,” was subjected to severe physical and psychological torture and pressure by forces of the Ministry of Intelligence.
Mr. Karim-Pour was denied access to a lawyer throughout his detention until the case was sent to Branch One of the Urmia Revolutionary Court, and he was also prohibited from meeting with his family.
According to this report, the trial session of Yaqub Karim-Pour was held via video conference, and in a brief court session lasting approximately 15 minutes, he was sentenced to death on the charge of “corruption on earth” through “spying for Israel.” This verdict was communicated to him on December 8, 2025, in Urmia Central Prison. It should be noted that Yaqub Karim-Pour denied all charges against him at all stages of the judicial process.
Based on this report, following the objection of the case lawyer to the verdict issued at the preliminary court, the case of Yaqub Karim-Pour was referred to Branch 9 of the Supreme Court of Iran for reconsideration.
Yaqub Karim-Pour is a Yarsani citizen with a disability and under the coverage of the Welfare Organization, born in 1984, married, and a graduate in law from Maragheh University.
