Urmia; Ayhan Ebrahimi Imprisoned to Serve One-Year Sentence

Ayhan Ebrahimi, a citizen of Urmia, was arrested and transferred to the city’s prison to serve a one-year prison sentence.

According to Kolbarnews, on Tuesday, July 2, 2025, Ayhan Ebrahimi was taken into custody and transferred to Urmia Central Prison to begin serving his sentence.
He had previously been sentenced to one year in prison by Branch 2 of the Urmia Revolutionary Court.

Earlier, a six-year prison sentence handed down to Mr. Ebrahimi by Branch 3 of the Urmia Revolutionary Court in October 2024 for “membership in opposition groups” had been overturned by Branch 39 of the Supreme Court. The case was then referred to a parallel branch for retrial, resulting in the reduced one-year sentence.

Mr. Ebrahimi, 29, a nursing graduate from Guilan University of Medical Sciences, was originally arrested on July 9, 2024, and held for 10 days in the Urmia Intelligence Detention Center before being transferred to Urmia Central Prison. He was later released on bail pending trial.
