“Milad Atmani,” a young Kurdish man from Salmas, is another victim of the nationwide protests in Tehran whose body was handed over to his family after 12 days. He had been wounded and arrested by suppressive forces during the protests prior to his death.

According to Kolbarnews, on the evening of Thursday, January 8, 2026, Milad Atmani was directly shot by suppressive forces in the Punak area of Tehran and, after being wounded, was arrested.
During this period, despite repeated follow-ups, his family had no information about his condition or place of detention.
Finally, on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, Milad Atmani’s family was summoned to Tehran and his body was handed over to them without any official explanation.
It is still unclear whether Milad Atmani’s death was the result of the severity of his gunshot wounds or whether he died under torture after his arrest.
Milad Atmani was shot on the same day along with “Diar Pourcheghir,” a 32-year-old Kurdish citizen from the village of “Petavir,” a district of Salmas, who was killed at the scene. Until the handover of Milad Atmani’s body, no official information about his fate had been released.
Milad Atmani was originally from the village of “Haqvaran,” a district of Salmas, and after being handed over, his body was buried in that village.
