Sanandaj; Sentencing of Kamran Sakhtemangar, Labor Activist, to Three Months in Prison and a Monetary Fine

Kamran Sakhtemangar, a labor activist from Sanandaj, has been sentenced to three months in prison and a fine of 30 million tomans.

According to Kolbarnews, Kamran Sakhtemangar, a labor activist from Sanandaj, was sentenced by Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court of this city to three months of imprisonment and a fine of thirty million tomans on the charge of “propaganda activity against the regime.” This verdict was issued to him on Wednesday, July 16, 2025.

On Monday morning, June 9, 2025, the court session to review the charges against Kamran Sakhtemangar was held at Branch 2 of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court. In this session, Mr. Sakhtemangar defended himself regarding the charge of “propaganda activity against the regime,” which stemmed from his call against the issuance and execution of death sentences.

Previously, on Sunday, May 18, 2025, Mr. Sakhtemangar’s interrogation session was held at Branch 2 of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Sanandaj. In that session, he defended himself against the charges of “assembly and collusion with intent to act against national security,” “insulting the leadership,” and “propaganda activity against the Islamic Republic regime.” At the end of that session, an indictment was issued against him on the charge of “propaganda activity against the regime” and referred to the court.

Additionally, the prosecutor’s office issued an acquittal verdict for this labor activist regarding the charges of “assembly and collusion with intent to act against national security” and “insulting the leadership.”

This labor activist was released from Sanandaj Prison on March 11, 2025, after posting bail. Mr. Sakhtemangar had been arrested on February 6, 2025, by security forces.

Mr. Sakhtemangar had also defended himself on charges of “defamation and slander” in mid-January 2025 at Branch 109 of the Criminal Court Two of Sanandaj. He was released on bail after that session.

Kamran Sakhtemangar has previously been arrested and sentenced due to his trade union and labor activities.
