Sanandaj; Arrest of a Teachers’ Union Activist by Security Forces

According to Kolbarnews, on Sunday, January 12, 2026, Behzad Ghavami, a teachers’ union activist and a resident of Sanandaj, was arrested by security forces and transferred to an unknown location. Since then, this citizen has been denied access to a lawyer and family visits.

According to available information, the family’s efforts to obtain information about his condition and place of detention have so far been unsuccessful, and the reason for his arrest and the charges against this union activist have not been announced by security or judicial institutions.
