Ali Ghasemi, an 18-year-old Kurdish citizen from Kermanshah and a resident of Sefidar Township in Robat Karim, lost his life during nationwide protests in the city.

According to Kolbarnews, on Thursday, January 8, 2026, Ali Ghasemi was targeted by suppressive actions of government forces during nationwide protests in Robat Karim and was killed.
According to received information, security institutions imposed severe restrictions on his family after the killing of this Kurdish adolescent.
These pressures included banning the installation of banners, preventing the holding of public ceremonies, conditioning the handover of the body on the payment of sums under the title of costs, and also obtaining forced confessions from his financially disadvantaged father.
Reports indicate that Ali Ghasemi’s family was forced under severe pressure to falsely present their son as a “Basij member” and as having been killed by “opponents” in order to receive his body and conduct burial ceremonies.
During the nationwide protests, pressure on the families of those killed, distortion of the official narrative, and restrictions on holding mourning ceremonies have been among the issues that have raised serious human rights concerns.
