Naqadeh: Kurdish Political Prisoner Ramin Zaleh Sentenced to Death on Charges of “Baghi”

Ramin Zaleh, a Kurdish political prisoner from Naqadeh, has been sentenced to death by the Mahabad Revolutionary Court on the charge of “baghi” (armed rebellion). The ruling was issued after more than 500 days of detention without access to a chosen lawyer, while his family was reportedly pressured into silence.

According to Kolbarnews, over the past few days, Branch 1 of the Mahabad Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Siyami, convicted Ramin Zaleh on the charge of baghi, accusing him of membership in an opposition party.
The trial reportedly lasted only a few minutes and was conducted online. At no point during the judicial process did Zaleh have access to an attorney of his choosing. The death sentence was officially communicated to him on December 5, 2025, in Naqadeh Prison.

A court-appointed public defender was assigned to him, although his family states they have no knowledge of who this lawyer is. Reports indicate that throughout his arrest and interrogation, Zaleh was denied phone calls, visits, and access to legal counsel. His family was allegedly threatened and pressured by security forces to remain silent about his situation.

Ramin Zaleh was arrested on July 23, 2024, after security forces raided his family home without presenting a warrant. He was taken to an undisclosed location and later held in prolonged uncertainty in Naqadeh Prison. Security agencies also rejected all attempts for his temporary release on bail.

Zaleh, the son of Kamal and a resident of Naqadeh, now faces a death sentence on the charge of baghi, while his family remains under pressure and without clear information regarding his legal proceedings.
