Kolbari: Continued Killing of Kolbars, Three Dead and One Injured in Ten Days

In the ongoing campaign of repression and direct shootings against Kolbars in the Kurdish border regions, during the first ten days of late September to early October 2025, at least three Kolbars have been killed in Baneh County, and another seriously injured in Nowsud.
Reports indicate that in all cases, the Islamic Republic’s border forces used live ammunition directly and without prior warning against the Kolbars.

According to reports received by Kolbarnews,
the first incident occurred on Thursday, September 25, 2025, in the Balesan border area of Baneh.
In this attack, Qasem Azizi, 47 years old and a resident of Baneh city, was shot in the left shoulder with live ammunition and died from his wounds. His body was transferred to Salahaddin Ayoubi Hospital in Baneh.

A few days later, on Wednesday, October 1, border regiment forces opened fire on a group of kolbars in the Surkew border zone of Baneh, killing Rebwar Mohammadzadeh, 38, from the village of Sepidar.
He was married and the father of two children. According to reports, he was directly targeted by the border forces and died after being transferred to Salahaddin Ayoubi Hospital.

In the most recent incident, in the early hours of Sunday, October 5, Mehdi Sharifi, a Kolbar from Baneh, was shot dead by direct fire from border forces in the Sardaw border region.

Additionally, on Tuesday, September 23, in the Nowsud border area of Kermanshah Province, border forces opened fire on a group of Kolbars, seriously injuring Karwan Almasi, a 28-year-old kolbar from Salas-e Babajani County.
He was shot in the arm, resulting in severe bone fractures and tissue damage.

According to statistics recorded by Kolbarnews, in the first six months of 1404 (Iranian calendar), a total of 37 Kolbars in the border areas and intercity routes of West Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, and Kermanshah provinces were killed or injured due to factors such as direct gunfire by regime military forces, avalanches and freezing, landmines, falls from mountains and heights, and other incidents. Of this number: 17 Kolbars (46%) were killed, 20 Kolbars (54%) were injured. Out of the total 37 cases in the first half of 1404, 32 incidents (86%) resulted from direct gunfire by regime military forces. Among these victims, 1 Kolbar (3%) was a child under 18, who was killed by direct gunfire from Iraqi border guards (Haras al-Hudud).
