Two Baloch Sukhtbars lost their lives after a Toyota pickup truck overturned on the Khash–Iranshahr road.
According to Kolbarnews, citing the Balochistan Human Rights Documentation Network, on 5 July 2026, two Baloch fuel carriers were killed when a Toyota pickup truck used for Sukhtbari overturned on the Khash–Iranshahr road.
According to the report, the victims were identified as Behzad Salarzehi, approximately 28 years old, son of Qader, married and the father of one child, and Zakaria Salarzehi, approximately 29 years old.
According to information received, the two Sukhtbars were travelling in a Toyota pickup truck from Khash towards Iranshahr when the vehicle veered off the road, fell beneath a bridge, and overturned.
According to informed sources, both occupants died at the scene as a result of the severity of their injuries.
Sukhtbari is considered one of the unconventional and dangerous jobs that many Baloch people in Balochistan have been forced to turn to due to the lack of suitable and stable employment. Accidents, vehicle overturns, and direct gunfire from military and security forces are among the dangers that threaten the lives of these Sukhtbars.According to the 2025 annual report of the Baluchistan Human Rights Documentation Network, at least 262 Sukhtbars were killed or injured. Of these, 173 Sukhtbars lost their lives due to gunfire by military forces, road accidents during pursuits by security forces, or explosions caused by mines planted by the IRGC, while 89 others were injured. Four child Sukhtbars were among those killed.
