Mohammadreza Khani, an 18-year-old Kurdish young man from Harsin County in Kermanshah Province and a resident of Alborz Province, is another of those killed in the popular protests who lost his life during the crackdown on protesters in Karaj.

According to Kolbarnews, on the evening of Friday, January 9, 2026, Mohammadreza Khani was targeted by direct gunfire from suppressive forces of the Islamic Republic in the Kianmehr area of Karaj, in the vicinity of Eshtehard, and died at the scene after being hit by two live bullets to the lower back.
Mohammadreza Khani was a well-known athlete in martial arts and was active as a member of the national kickboxing (MMA) team.
He had previously won a gold medal in national competitions and, in May of the current year, also achieved the runner-up title at the national championships and the qualifying stage for the Bahrain Asian Youth Games, in the under-80 kg weight category and modern style.
The body of this deceased young man was transferred to his hometown and buried in Harsin County, and at the same time images from the burial and mourning ceremonies of his family and relatives were published on social media.
