Ilam; Arbitrary Arrests and Ongoing Enforced Disappearance of 20 Kurdish Citizens Across the Province

Amid the continuing wave of arrests following the nationwide protests, at least 20 Kurdish citizens in various cities and villages across Ilam Province have been violently and arbitrarily detained by security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran without judicial warrants. Days and, in some cases, weeks after their arrests, no clear information is available about their condition, place of detention, or possible charges.

According to Kolbarnews, between January 7 and January 22, 2026 (18 Dey to 2 Bahman 1404), at least 20 Kurdish citizens from different parts of Ilam Province including Dehloran, Darreh Shahr, Abdanan, Badreh, Ivan-e Gharb, Chardavol, Lumar, and Sirvan were arrested by Iranian security forces without warrants.

Most arrests were carried out violently, at private homes, workplaces, or during street protests. Several detainees were reportedly injured at the time of arrest.

Based on received information, all detainees are being held in undisclosed locations.
Despite the passage of periods ranging from several days to more than 18 days, their families have been denied any form of contact, visitation, or official information regarding their physical condition, whereabouts, or charges. This situation has intensified concerns over torture, coercion, and serious violations of fundamental detainee rights.
