According to Kolbarnews, on the evening of Friday, January 9, 2026, at around 11:00 p.m., Ali Abbasi, a 19-year-old from Gilan-e Gharb, was severely wounded during nationwide protests in Tehran after being shot with live ammunition by IRGC forces in the area above his right kidney and was taken to hospital by his mother.
Based on the information received, plainclothes forces had informed the family that Ali Abbasi was undergoing surgery in the operating room until 5:00 a.m. However, on the morning of Saturday, January 10, 2026, the Abbasi family, along with hundreds of other families whose children had been hospitalized as wounded protesters, went to Kahrizak in Tehran, where they encountered security forces, plainclothes government agents, and hundreds of bodies wrapped in black bags.
After the names of those killed were announced and following extensive searching by the family among the bodies, Ali Abbasi’s body was identified and ultimately handed over to the family in exchange for the payment of 700 million tomans.
On Friday, January 16, 2026, the body of this 19-year-old young man was buried in the village of “Owl Viyar,” a district of Gilan-e Gharb, in the presence of his family and some relatives, under strict security measures and the heavy presence of security forces, plainclothes agents, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Ali Abbasi, son of Shirin and Fariborz, 19 years old, was the only son of the family and had one 16-year-old sister.
Due to poverty and unemployment, the family had migrated to Tehran about eight months earlier, and Ali’s parents were working as waiters in a restaurant.
