Esfarayen; Death of Morteza Yaghoubi, a 41-Year-Old Kurdish Young Man, During Nationwide Protests

Morteza Yaghoubi, a 41-year-old Kurdish Kurmanj citizen from Esfarayen, is identified as another victim of the nationwide protests.

According to Kolbarnews, on Thursday, January 8, 2026, Morteza Yaghoubi was targeted during nationwide protests in Esfarayen by direct fire of live ammunition by the repressive forces of the Islamic Republic and lost his life.
The body of this Kurdish citizen was buried on Sunday, January 11, 2026, in his birthplace village of “Naqiabad,” a district of Esfarayen.

Based on received information, after his killing, the family of this victim faced security pressures during the process of receiving the body and holding the burial ceremony, and security institutions attempted to prevent independent reporting about the details of this death.

Morteza Yaghoubi, born in 1982, was a heavy vehicle driver, the father of a 9-year-old daughter and two sons aged 3 years and 1 year.
