Mohammad Pouya Karimabadi, a 17-year-old child from Esfarayen County in North Khorasan Province, is another of those killed in the nationwide protests in this city.

According to Kolbarnews, on Thursday, January 8, 2026, Mohammad Pouya Karimabadi was shot with live ammunition during nationwide protests at the beginning of one of the main streets of the city of Esfarayen by suppressive forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and he lost his life due to the severity of his injuries.
According to received information, security and military forces at the protest site opened direct fire with live weapons toward protesters, as a result of which this 17-year-old child was hit by a bullet. The severity of the injuries was such that initial efforts to save his life were unsuccessful.
After the death of Mohammad Pouya Karimabadi, security institutions pressured his family and prevented them from publicly informing about the manner of their child’s killing. The handover of the body of this deceased child was also carried out under strict security supervision and restrictions, and his family faced threats regarding holding a public ceremony.
