In a traffic accident involving a pickup truck carrying female agricultural workers in Dezful, Khuzestan Province, seven people were injured.
According to Kolbarnews, on the morning of Tuesday, June 4, 2024, a pickup truck carrying agricultural workers on the road leading to Chahar Rah Avoj in Dezful, Khuzestan Province, seven people were injured and taken to the hospital.
The exact cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
The injured, all female workers employed in agricultural fields, received initial medical care from emergency responders and were then transported to Dezful Grand Hospital. The general condition of the injured has been reported as stable.
This incident is part of a series of recent traffic accidents involving female workers in Khuzestan Province. In December of last year, a similar accident involving a pickup truck carrying female agricultural workers in Dezful left nine injured. Additionally, on June 1, five female Zanguleh “bell”-picking workers were injured or killed when a vehicle overturned on the Dehdasht to Gachsaran road.
These recurring accidents highlight the urgent need for improved transportation safety for workers, particularly in rural and agricultural areas.
It is worth noting that in 2023, a total of 2,115 workers (2,094 men and 21 women) lost their lives in work-related accidents in Iran, marking an 11.3% increase compared to the previous year, which saw 1,900 fatalities.
Iran ranks 102nd globally in terms of workplace safety, indicating a significant need for improvement.
