Bukan: Death of Kaveh Ahmadzadeh in Central Prison Due to Official Negligence

Kaveh Ahmadzadeh, a former political prisoner who was serving a new sentence in Bukan Central Prison, suffered cardiac arrest and died after prison authorities failed to provide medical attention despite his critical condition.

According to Kolbarnews, Kaveh Ahmadzadeh experienced cardiac arrest in recent days while, according to informed sources, prison authorities ignored the deterioration of his health and refused to transfer him to a medical facility in time. His body was transferred to the Urmia Forensic Medicine Center for autopsy and was handed over to his family on Monday, December 8, 2025, without any official explanation regarding the exact cause of death.

A source close to the family says that prison officials informed the family of his death with a delay of about 24 hours, adding to their anxiety and confusion.

Over the past years, Kaveh Ahmadzadeh had spent nearly ten years in prisons of the Islamic Republic due to his political activities and had repeatedly been denied medical services and basic rights.

His death once again highlights the dysfunctional and irresponsible structure governing Iran’s prison system and shows how systematic medical negligence continues to endanger the lives of detainees.
