Abdanan; Security Forces Raid the Home of Teachers’ Union Activist Alireza Hemmati, Confiscate Personal Belongings and Summon Him to the Revolutionary Court

Security forces raided the home of Alireza Hemmati, a teachers’ union activist and civil activist from Abdanan, searched the house, confiscated his personal belongings, and summoned him to appear before the Ilam Revolutionary Court.

According to Kolbarnews, on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, security forces raided the home of Alireza Hemmati, a teachers’ union activist and civil activist from Abdanan in Ilam Province, without presenting a judicial warrant.
After conducting a thorough search of the house, they confiscated his personal belongings, including his laptop and mobile phone.
The officers also informed him that he must appear before the Ilam Revolutionary Court on Sunday, July 12, 2026.

According to the information received, the operation created an atmosphere of fear and intimidation for Alireza Hemmati and his family members. After searching the house, the security forces left the premises without providing any explanation for the confiscation of his personal belongings, only serving him with a summons to appear before the Ilam Revolutionary Court.

Alireza Hemmati, born in 1977, is a veteran teacher with the Ministry of Education, with 28 years of service. He has previously faced judicial and administrative measures because of his union activities and, in the summer of 2023, was sentenced to three months’ suspension from service. His participation in teachers’ union gatherings and his support for the nationwide protests of 2022 were among the activities that had previously led to pressure being imposed on him.

In recent years, teachers’ union activists in various cities across Iran have repeatedly faced summonses, arrests, house searches, confiscation of personal belongings, and the opening of judicial cases. These measures have been criticised by human rights organisations as part of the growing pressure on union activists and the restriction of civil liberties.
