Zanjan: Child Laborer Loses Arm in a Mining Accident

A 14-year-old child laborer lost his arm in an accident at the Shah Sang Arjin mine in Soltaniyeh, Zanjan.

According to Kolbarnews, a young worker, identified as Kamil Bahrami, was involved in an accident on July 9, 2024, while working at the mine. The accident resulted in the complete severing of his arm at the shoulder.

After the incident, emergency services transported him to a hospital in Zanjan and then to Tehran for an attempted reattachment of his arm. Unfortunately, the surgery was unsuccessful.

The Shah Sang mine, employing 60 workers, is located in the village of Arjin, part of the central district of Soltaniyeh in Zanjan province.

It is noteworthy that in 2023, a total of 2,115 workers (2,094 men and 21 women) lost their lives in work-related accidents, marking an 11.3% increase compared to the previous year, when 1,900 workers died. 

Iran ranks 102nd globally in workplace safety, reflecting a significant need for improvement.
