Saman Qaderi, a citizen from Urmia and one of those arrested during the January protests, has been sentenced by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran to a total of fourteen years in prison.

According to Kolbarnews, Saman Qaderi, 37, a political prisoner held in Greater Tehran Prison, has been sentenced to fourteen years in prison by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Iman Afshari.
Under the ruling, Qaderi was sentenced to eleven years in prison on charges of “acting against national security” and three years in prison on charges of “insulting sanctities.”
The verdict was delivered to him on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, and after receiving the sentence, Saman Qaderi objected to the ruling and filed an appeal.
Saman Qaderi was arrested by the IRGC Intelligence Organization forces in Tehran in March 2026 and, after the completion of the interrogation process, was transferred to Greater Tehran Prison. He has remained imprisoned in this facility ever since.
The issuance of lengthy prison sentences for protesters and political prisoners continues while the judicial proceedings in these cases have faced widespread criticism from human rights organizations.
