Urmia; Continued detention and uncertainty over the fate of a Citizen

Esmail Seyyed Mahmoudian, a citizen from Oshnavieh, remains in an indeterminate state in one of the security detention centers in the city of Urmia 20 days after his arrest and has been deprived of access to a lawyer, phone calls, and visits with his family.

According to Kolbarnews, on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, Esmail Seyyed Mahmoudian was arrested by security forces in the coastal park of the city of Oshnavieh without the presentation of a judicial warrant and was transferred to one of the security detention centers in Urmia. During the period of his detention, this citizen has been deprived of his basic rights, including the right to access a lawyer and to communicate with his family.

The repeated follow-ups by Esmail Seyyed Mahmoudian’s family with judicial authorities have so far remained unsuccessful, and the relevant officials have refrained from providing clear explanations regarding his legal status, exact place of detention, and fate.

As of the time of drafting this report, no official information is available regarding the reasons for the arrest and the charges attributed to this citizen.

Esmail Seyyed Mahmoudian, 45 years old, is an employee of the Agricultural Jihad Organization and a resident of Oshnavieh.
