Sepideh Qolian, labor activist and political prisoner, released after more than two years of imprisonment

According to Kolbarnews, on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, Sepideh Qolian, a labor activist and prominent figure in Iran’s civil movements, was released from Evin Prison after serving her sentence. She spent a total of two years, two months, and 26 days in prison.
Ms. Qolian was arrested in April 2023 after a video was published in which she strongly criticized Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic regime. The judiciary of the Islamic Republic sentenced her to two years of prison on the charge of “insulting the leadership.”
Previously, on March 15, 2023, only hours after her release under a general amnesty order, she was rearrested by security forces on her way from Tehran to Dezful. She was then transferred to the Ministry of Intelligence detention center known as Ward 209 in Evin Prison. On March 18 of the same year, she was moved to the women’s ward of Evin Prison.
