Tehran: Sentencing of Three Labor Activists to Six Years in Prison

Mohammad Irannejad, Nasrollah Amirloo, and Morteza Seyedi, labor activists, have each been sentenced to two years in prison by the Shahriar Revolutionary Court.

According to Kolbarnews, Mohammad Irannejad, Nasrollah Amirloo, and Morteza Seyedi were sentenced to prison. 

Based on a recent ruling issued by Branch 2 of the Shahriar Revolutionary Court and conveyed to these labor activists on Saturday, June 22, 2024, they were each sentenced to two years in prison for the charge of “forming a group under the title of a labor union with the intent to disrupt national security.” The court session for their charges was held on May 27, 2023.

Mohammad Irannejad, Nasrollah Amirloo, and Morteza Seyedi, along with several other labor activists, were arrested by security forces on April 15, 2022. Messrs. Seyedi and Amirloo were released on bail on May 8 and May 1, 2022, respectively, while Irannejad was released on bail after about a month.

On June 26, 2022, Mohammad Irannejad was sent to Evin Prison to serve a sentence of two years and nine months for a separate case. During the Evin Prison fire incident, he, along with several other prisoners, was transferred to Rajai Shahr Prison and was released from there in March 2024.
