Tehran: Death Sentences Issued for Six Detainees in the Ekbatan Case

Iran’s judiciary has issued death sentences for six individuals detained in connection with protests in Tehran’s Ekbatan district.

According to Kolbarnews, on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, Babak Paknia, one of the two attorneys representing the Ekbatan detainees, announced that Branch 13 of Tehran’s Criminal Court sentenced Milad Armon, Alireza Kafaei, Amir Mohammad Khosh-Eghbal, Navid Najaran, Hossein Nemati, and Alireza Barmerzpour to death. These individuals were convicted on vague charges amid the judiciary’s ongoing suppression of recent nationwide protests.

The sentencing comes amid reports that these detainees were subjected to intense pressure and forced confessions. While the specific charges remain unclear, it appears that the Iranian judiciary is intensifying its crackdown on protesters.
