According to her lawyer, journalist Elahe Mohammadi has been granted a pardon and her case has been officially closed after 17 months of imprisonment and legal proceedings.

As reported by Kolbernews, on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, Shahab Mirlouhi, Elahe Mohammadi’s lawyer, announced that she had received a pardon regarding the charges of “assembly and collusion against national security” and “propaganda against the Islamic Republic”, leading to the closure of her case.
Elahe Mohammadi, a reporter for Shargh Newspaper, was arrested in Saqqez in September 2022 for covering the funeral of Jina (Mahsa) Amini in the early days of nationwide protests. Along with fellow journalist Niloofar Hamedi, she was initially detained in Qarchak Prison before being transferred to Evin Prison.
In October 2023, Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Salavati, sentenced her to six years in prison for “collaboration with a hostile government”, five years for “assembly and collusion against national security”, and one year for “propaganda against the system.”
In August 2024, the Court of Appeal of Tehran Province overturned her conviction for “collaborating with a hostile government” but upheld her five-year sentence for assembly and collusion and one-year sentence for propaganda.
Finally, on January 14, 2025, Mohammadi was released from Evin Prison on bail.
Notably, the case of Niloofar Hamedi, who was arrested a few days before Mohammadi on similar charges, was also closed on February 11, 2025.
