According to Kolbarnews, on Friday, May 9, 2025, a Sukhtbari Land Cruiser carrying fuel overturned in the Tang-e-Shakrian area near the village of Kojom in Sarbaz County. As a result, one Sukhtbar lost his life and another was injured.
The deceased Sukhtbar has been identified as Yasin Balouchi Tanha, 23 years old, son of Isa. The injured has been identified as Sadegh Mazarehi, 25 years old, son of Dormohammad. Both are residents of Kojom village.
According to local sources, the accident occurred following rainfall that caused the road to become slippery, leading to the vehicle’s loss of control and overturning.
Sukhtbari considered one of the unconventional and dangerous occupations that many Baloch people in Balochistan are forced to engage in due to the lack of suitable and stable employment opportunities. Accidents, vehicle overturns, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that threaten the lives of Sukhtbars. According to reports by Baloch activists, in 2024, at least 240 Baloch Sukhtbars lost their lives due to shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires, while 135 others were injured in these incidents, 19 of whom were children.
