Saravan–Khash: Young Baloch Sukhtbar Dies in Car Overturn

Arman Shahnavazi, a 23-year-old Baloch Sukhtbar, lost his life following a vehicle overturn on the Saravan–Khash road.

According to Kolbarnews, on Thursday, October 16, 2025, a Baloch Sukhtbar was killed after his vehicle overturned on the Saravan–Khash route, near the Geshteh area.

The deceased has been identified as Arman Shahnavazi, 23, son of Kamran and a resident of Kheirabad village, Khash County. Reports indicate that Arman was driving from Saravan toward Khash when the accident occurred near Geshteh, and he died at the scene due to the severity of his injuries.

It is reported that his wedding ceremony was scheduled to take place just one week later.

Notably, about five years ago, Arman’s older brother, Shahdoor Shahnavazi, was also killed while Sukhtbari, shot in the head by security forces during a direct-fire incident.

Sukhtbari is considered one of the unconventional and dangerous jobs that many Baloch people in Balochistan have been forced to turn to due to the lack of suitable and stable employment. Accidents, vehicle overturns, and direct gunfire from military and security forces are among the dangers that threaten the lives of these Sukhtbars. According to reports from Baloch activists, in the year 2024, at least 375 Baloch Sukhtbars have been injured or lost their lives due to shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires. Of this number, 240 Sukhtbars were killed and 135 were injured, representing a 55% increase in the number of killed and injured Sukhtbars compared to the year 2023.
