Saqqez: A Citizen Arrested by Security Forces

Amjad Salehzadeh, a 38-year-old resident of Saqqez, was arrested by security forces at his workplace and transferred to an undisclosed location.

According to Kolbarnews, on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, Amjad Salehzadeh was detained by security forces in Saqqez without the presentation of a judicial warrant.

Earlier in April 2024, Amjad Salehzadeh had been sentenced by the First Branch of the Saqqez Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Javad Mostafaei, to three months of imprisonment on charges of “propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran.” This sentence was later converted to a fine of 16 million tomans under the Reduced Punishment Law, and ultimately reduced to 12 million tomans under Article 442.

Salehzadeh was previously summoned by the Saqqez Intelligence Office on March 16, 2023, interrogated for one day, and temporarily released on bail pending the conclusion of legal proceedings. His interrogation session was held on February 21, 2024, in the First Branch of the Saqqez Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office, where he was accused of “propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

As of the time of this report, no information is available regarding the reasons for his recent arrest, his whereabouts, or the charges against him.
