Sanandaj; Transfer of Afshin Hosseinpanahi to Sanandaj Central Prison

Afshin Hosseinpanahi, the brother of executed political prisoner Ramin Hosseinpanahi, has been transferred from a security detention center in Sanandaj to the city’s prison.

According to Kolbarnews, on Sunday, February 16, 2025, Afshin Hosseinpanahi was moved to Sanandaj Prison after completing his interrogation. The case judge has set a bail of 5 billion tomans for his temporary release, but his family has not yet been able to secure the amount.

According to the report, participation in illegal gatherings and ceremonies has been cited as the reason for his arrest. Afshin Hosseinpanahi was detained at his workplace by security forces on January 9, 2025.

Afshin Hosseinpanahi, who has previously faced legal action due to his activism, is the brother of Ramin Hosseinpanahi, a political prisoner executed in 2018.

It is worth noting that on September 8, 2018, Ramin Hosseinpanahi was executed along with two other political prisoners, Zaniar Moradi and Loghman Moradi. Their execution was carried out without prior notification to their lawyers, and none of them were allowed to have representatives present at the time. In violation of legal procedures, the authorities did not return their bodies to their families. Reports indicate that they were buried in an undisclosed location, and their families were threatened to prevent protests or media coverage. These executions sparked reactions from human rights organizations and legal advocates.
