Labor and civil activist Kamran Sakhtemangar has been temporarily released from prison after 34 days of detention, upon posting bail.

According to Kolbarnews, on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, Kamran Sakhtemangar, a labor and civil activist from Sanandaj, was released from prison after 34 days in detention. His release was granted upon posting bail.
Kamran Sakhtemangar was arrested on February 6, 2025, by security forces in Sanandaj.
As of now, the reasons for his arrest and the charges against him remain unclear.
His court hearing was held in mid-January 2025 at Branch 109 of the Sanandaj Criminal Court (Second Division) on charges of “slander and defamation.” He was previously released on bail in that case as well.
The case was filed against him by the Sanandaj Prosecutor’s Office and Jahangir Elyasi, the Director General of Kurdistan’s Road and Urban Development Department. The lawsuit was based on his exposure of misconduct by various officials and his submission of related evidence.
Kamran Sakhtemangar has a history of previous arrests and convictions due to his labor activism.
