A court session was held at Branch 109 of the Criminal Court in Sanandaj to address charges against labor activist Kamran Sakhtemangar.
According to Kolbarnews, on Sunday, January 5, 2025, the court reviewed the charges against Mr. Sakhtemangar at Branch 109 of the Second Criminal Court of Sanandaj. Mr. Sakhtemangar defended himself against accusations of “defamation and slander.”
This case was initiated following complaints by the Sanandaj Prosecutor and Jahangir Elyasi, Director-General of Kurdistan’s Roads and Urban Development Department, against Mr. Sakhtemangar. The complaints stemmed from his actions as a representative of workers, where he pursued allegations of misconduct by officials in various institutions, including the General Inspection Organization, the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, the Civil Aviation Organization in Tehran, the Kurdistan Governorate, and the Sanandaj Governor’s Office, providing evidence in support of his claims.
After the session, Mr. Sakhtemangar was released on bail. He had been summoned to the court on December 25, 2024, following an official notification.
Kamran Sakhtemangar has a history of arrest and conviction due to his labor activism.
