Johar Herki, an environmental activist and Kurdish language and cultural advocate from Oshnavieh, has been arrested to serve his ten-month prison sentence and transferred to the city’s central prison.

According to Kolbarnews, on Monday, October 13, 2025, Johar Herki, a mountaineer, environmentalist, and Kurdish language activist from Oshnavieh, was taken into custody after being summoned to the Enforcement Department of the Oshnavieh Court.
He was subsequently transferred to Oshnavieh Central Prison to serve his ten-month prison term.
Mr. Herki had previously been sentenced on Monday, July 7, 2025, by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Oshnavieh, presided over by Judge Ali Ansari, to ten months in prison on charges of “propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
He has been arrested and interrogated several times in the past by security forces due to his civil and cultural activities.
