A Baloch Sukhtbar was severely beaten by Iranian military forces and later arrested after being hospitalized for his injuries.

According to Kolbarnews, on Friday, May 30, 2025, Edris Narouyi, approximately 40 years old, married and father of four, originally from Zabol, was subjected to a violent assault following a military pursuit on the Sahlabad–Nehbandan road.
Reports indicate that Narouyi was driving his vehicle when military forces initiated a chase. After his vehicle’s tires were shot, he lost control and collided with a large roadside rock.
Following the crash, security forces forcibly removed him from the vehicle and subjected him to a severe beating.
Narouyi sustained serious injuries and was transferred to a hospital for treatment. However, a few hours later, he was arrested by the same forces and taken to an unknown location. His current condition and whereabouts remain unclear.
Sukhtbari is considered one of the unconventional and dangerous jobs that many Baloch people in Balochistan have been forced to turn to due to the lack of suitable and stable employment. Accidents, vehicle overturns, and direct gunfire from military and security forces are among the dangers that threaten the lives of these Sukhtbars. According to reports from Baloch activists, in the year 2024, at least 375 Baloch Sukhtbars have been injured or lost their lives due to shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires. Of this number, 240 Sukhtbars were killed and 135 were injured, representing a 55% increase in the number of killed and injured Sukhtbars compared to the year 2023.
