Mashhad; Death of Mojtaba Mohammadzadeh, a 21-Year-Old Kurdish Young Man, During Nationwide Protests

Mojtaba Mohammadzadeh, a 21-year-old Kurdish Kurmanj young man from Quchan and a resident of Mashhad, is identified as another victim of the nationwide protests.

According to Kolbar News, on Friday, January 9, 2026, Mojtaba Mohammadzadeh was targeted during nationwide protests in the “Meraj” Square of Hojjat Township in Mashhad by direct fire of live ammunition by the repressive forces of the Islamic Republic, was shot in the back, and lost his life. The family of this Kurdish young man had no information about his fate until Tuesday, January 13, 2026, when they identified his body in the morgue.

The body of this victim was buried on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, in the “Behesht-e Rezvan” cemetery in Mashhad under security measures.

Mojtaba Mohammadzadeh, born on November 30, 2004, was from the Kurdish Kurmanj community of the city of Quchan.
