Labor; Two workers lost their lives due to lack of workplace safety

Continuing incidents caused by the absence of safety and unsuitable working conditions, two workers lost their lives while working in the cities of Ilam and Masal.

According to Kolbarnews, on Friday, December 19, 2025, in the city of Ilam, strong winds caused a guard cabin to fall from a height at one of the city’s construction projects. This incident occurred in the Hanivan neighborhood, during which the guard worker who was inside the cabin at the time fell down along with the cabin and died on the spot.

A labor source, explaining this incident, stated that the lack of safety measures and the unstable placement of the cabin at the project site were the main causes of this fatal accident.

At the same time, the Iran Labor News Agency reported the death of a road maintenance worker in Gilan Province. According to this report, Faramarz Tofiqi, 60 years old and a resident of Masal County, while carrying out a work mission on the Masal–Khalkhal road axis, collided with a Nissan passenger vehicle after veering off course. This worker lost his life due to the severity of his injuries after being transferred to a medical center.

These incidents once again highlight the alarming state of workplace safety and the lack of effective oversight of working conditions in construction and service projects; a situation that claims the lives of dozens of workers every year and remains unanswered.
