Amid the continued occurrence of deadly workplace accidents caused by the absence of proper safety measures, at least 10 workers lost their lives in the cities of Mashhad and Borkhar due to falls from height and gas inhalation.

According to Kolbarnews, a construction worker in the southern part of Mashhad fell from a height into an elevator shaft while working, as a result of the failure to observe safety precautions.
The report states that the approximately 46-year-old worker was in the process of transporting construction materials from the lower floors to the upper floors of the building when the accident occurred. Due to the severity of his injuries, he died at the scene.
The identity of the worker has not yet been announced.
At the same time, nine other workers lost their lives following an incident at an industrial workshop in Borkhar County, Isfahan Province.
Mansour Shisheh-Foroush, Director General of Crisis Management of Isfahan Province, reported a fire at one of the workshop units in the Dowlatabad industrial zone and stated that the incident occurred on the morning of Monday, December 15, on the production line of one of the industrial units. Firefighting and emergency medical teams were immediately dispatched to the scene.
According to him, nine workers died as a result of gas inhalation during the incident, and investigations into the cause of the fire are still ongoing by specialized teams.
These incidents occurred under circumstances in which, according to reports, at least 2,042 people lost their lives in workplace accidents across Iran in 2024, and 16,113 cases of work-related physical injuries were recorded. Experts cite the lack of job security, inadequate insurance coverage, shortages of labor inspectors, and weak safety infrastructure as the main factors behind the continued deaths of workers in workplace environments.
