In the past 10 days, direct gunfire from regime military forces has resulted in the death of at least two Kolbars and the injury of 13 others, including a child Kolbar.
According to Kolbarnews, between July 6 and July 16, 2024, regime military forces along the border areas of West Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, and Kermanshah provinces targeted Kolbars with direct gunfire, killing at least two and injuring 13, including one child.
On July 8, in the border regions of Baneh and Nowsud, two Kolbars, Rebwar Rashidi from Baneh and Sina Naderi, a child kolbar from Paveh, were injured.
On July 9, military forces targeted eight Kolbars in the Nowsud and Baneh borders, resulting in the death of one and injuries to seven others. Ayoub Mohammadi from Salas Babajani was killed, while Masih Moradi, Ayoub Moradi, Mehdi Besharati, Mehran Abdi, Peyman Veysi, and Sami Zarei were injured in the Nowsud border. On the same day, Navid Hasani was injured in the Baneh border.
On July 15, military forces in Nowsud opened fire on a vehicle carrying Kolbars, severely injuring Mohammad Dari from Marivan.
On July 16, regime military forces shot and wounded Ahmed Malai, a Kolbar from Salas Babajani, in the stomach in the Nowsud border.
Additionally, on July 17, regime forces killed a 19-year-old Kolbar, Kian Zeini, and injured two brothers, Keyvan and Peyman Qaderi, in the Sardasht border.
Kolbarnews previously reported in the first six months of 2024, a total of 270 Kolbars in the border areas and inter-road routes of West Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, and Kermanshah provinces were killed or injured due to factors such as direct shooting by the regime’s military forces, avalanches and frostbite, stepping on mines, falling from mountains and heights, and other incidents.
Out of this number, a total of 34 kolbars (13%) were killed and 236 Kolbars (87%) were injured.
Of the 270 Kolbars who were killed or injured in the first six months of 2024, a total of 222 cases (82%) were due to direct shooting or beatings by the regime’s military forces.
Additionally, of the 270 Kolbars who were killed or injured in the first six months of 2024 in the Kurdish border region, 20 of them were children under the age of 18.
Comparing the statistics of the first six months of 2024 with the same period in 2023, we have witnessed a 218% increase in the killing and injuring of Kolbars in the Kurdish border region.
