Kerman: Five Copper Mine Workers Killed in Traffic Accident

Five Copper mine workers from the Sargaz copper mine lost their lives in a road accident in Jiroft,

According to Kolbarnews, In a tragic accident that occurred on the morning of Thursday on the Esfandeqeh road, five workers from the Sargaz copper mine in Jiroft, who were on their way to work, unfortunately lost their lives instantly.

This unfortunate incident took place on the Esfandeqeh road, which is one of the major routes in the region. 

The exact details of the cause of the accident have not yet been determined, and further investigations by the relevant authorities are ongoing.

The Sargaz copper mine and factory is one of the major investment projects of the Jiroft Copper Industries Company in the Esfandeqeh area of Jiroft County. In recent years, this mine has been recognized as one of the key centers of copper production in the country.

It should be noted that a total of 2,115 workers (2,094 men and 21 women) lost their lives in work-related accidents in the year 2023-2024, which represents an 11.3% increase compared to the same period the previous year, where 1,900 workers died.

Iran ranks 102nd globally in terms of workplace safety, a very low ranking.
