A Baloch Sukhtbar lost his life near Robat, Kerman, after the overturn of his Sukhtbari vehicle and the fire that followed.
According to Kolbarnews, on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, a Baloch Sukhtbar named Abdolvahed Dehmordeh, son of Abdolvafa, 20, and resident of Yazd, died near Robat, Kerman, when his Peugeot 405 Sukhtbari vehicle overturned and caught fire.
Abdolvahed had assumed responsibility for supporting his mother and five younger sisters after the death of his father, Abdolvafa Dehmordeh, in a car accident about a year ago.
With his passing, the family has now lost its second breadwinner and is left in tragic and desperate circumstances.
The recurrence of such deadly incidents among Baloch Sukhtbars reflects the severe economic pressures and the absence of any government policies to create sustainable employment opportunities, conditions that continue to force many families to lose their young members to this deadly cycle.
Sukhtbari is considered one of the unconventional and dangerous jobs that many Baloch people in Balochistan have been forced to turn to due to the lack of suitable and stable employment. Accidents, vehicle overturns, and direct gunfire from military and security forces are among the dangers that threaten the lives of these Sukhtbars. According to reports from Baloch activists, in the year 2024, at least 375 Baloch Sukhtbars have been injured or lost their lives due to shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires. Of this number, 240 Sukhtbars were killed and 135 were injured, representing a 55% increase in the number of killed and injured Sukhtbars compared to the year 2023.
