Jask: Death of a Worker Due to Lack of Workplace Safety

Following a drowning incident in the sea near Jask, a worker fell into the water while working on a fishing boat and lost his life due to drowning.

According to kolom, on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, a Baloch worker in Jask County fell into the sea while working on a fishing boat due to the lack of workplace safety measures and died as a result of drowning.

The worker has been identified as Hamdan Bijeh, approximately 23 years old, son of Isa, and a resident of the village of Gatan in Jask County.

According to the report, Hamdan was working as a fisherman and was the breadwinner for his family. He fell into the sea while performing his daily work due to the lack of safety equipment and drowned.

It is worth noting that in 2023, a total of 2,115 workers (2,094 men and 21 women) lost their lives in work-related accidents, marking an 11.3% increase compared to the previous year, when the number of fatalities was 1,900. Iran ranks 102nd globally in terms of workplace safety compliance, a very low ranking.
