Isfahan: Hossein Shirkoul, a Kurdish citizen killed by direct fire from government forces

Amid the ongoing bloody crackdown on nationwide protests, a Kurdish citizen from Zarrin-Abad, a district of Dehloran County in Ilam Province, was killed during popular protests in the city of Isfahan after being shot directly by government forces.

According to Kolbarnews, on the evening of Thursday, January 8, 2026, Hossein Shirkoul, a Kurdish citizen from Zarrin-Abad (Pehleh) in Dehloran County, Ilam Province, was killed during protests in Isfahan after being directly targeted by military-security forces. Reports indicate that he was shot at close range with a Kalashnikov rifle by forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and died as a result of the gunshot wounds.

After five days of follow-up, Hossein Shirkoul’s family was able to receive his body. His burial ceremony is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, in Zarrin-Abad.

As of the time of this report, Iranian authorities have provided no official explanation regarding this killing.
