Iranshahr–Sarbaz: One Citizen Killed, Two Sukhtbars Injured in a Traffic Accident

A traffic accident on the Iranshahr–Sarbaz highway resulted in the death of one citizen and serious injuries to two Sukhtbars.

According to Kolbernews, on the morning of Wednesday, January 29, 2025, a severe collision between a Peugeot sedan and a Sukhtbari pickup truck occurred near Malekabad village on the Iranshahr–Sarbaz road. The driver of the Peugeot was killed on the spot, while the two occupants of the Sukhtbari truck were seriously injured.

Reports indicate that the condition of the injured individuals is critical.

As of the time of this report, the identities of the victims have not yet been confirmed.

Sukhtbari considered one of the unconventional and dangerous occupations that many Baloch people in Balochistan are forced to engage in due to the lack of suitable and stable employment opportunities. Accidents, vehicle overturns, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that threaten the lives of Sukhtbars. According to reports by Baloch activists, in 2024, at least 240 Baloch Sukhtbars lost their lives due to shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires, while 135 others were injured in these incidents, 19 of whom were children.
